Mission Terrace Neighborfest rocks it again!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Slowyuga brought out the sunshine and the people. On September 10, more than 500 neighbors turned out to the 2nd annual Mission Terrace Neighborfest! The day-long block party featured performances by Danza Azteca Xitlalli-Xolotl, Ruth Asawa School of the Arts’ World Music program, and Students of Soul; a kids’ art and play zone; story time and books courtesy of the Excelsior Branch Library; iced drinks from Excelsior Coffee and shaved ice by Far from Paradise (it was a hot day!); pickleball; a community potluck and dessert competition; a raffle powered by local businesses; and half a dozen community organizations sharing programs and resources. We closed out the day dancing in the streets to the beats of Rebel Joy.

A huge thanks to our volunteers, individual donors, community sponsors (Excelsior Action Group, Livable City, Family Connections, Mission YMCA, and OMI-CPP) and local businesses (Balboa Ice Cream, Deli Man, Excelsior Coffee, Far from Paradise, Roxie’s Market and Deli, Tala Wine, Tasty Coffee, The Check-in Lounge, and The Korner Store) for supporting this cherished community event. We’ll see you soon on Slowyuga!
