We love this block party
Such a blast celebrating the 3rd Annual Mission Terrace Slowyuga Block Party with all of you! More than 500 neighbors and community members came out to the party on Slowyuga. This year, kids enjoyed creating “magic potions” with neighbor Lindzy, dressing up in the Costume Corner with neighbor Ashley, blowing large bubbles and making bicycle-powered smoothies. They circled up in a friendship dance with Danza Azteca Xitlalli-Xolotl and listened to lively stories read by Excelsior Branch Children’s librarian Michael and Dolores Huerta Elementary librarian Maureen. They also met Tree Frog Trek’s animal ambassadors, learned to bike without training wheels thanks to the SF Bike Coalition, and raised lemonade stand donations for Compass Family Services.
Neighbors shared plant clippings at the “Growyuga” harvest table, worked out in neighbor Kristy’s bootcamp class, admired classic cars from the San Pancho Car Club, and entered delectable treats into the dessert competition. Congratulations to dessert competition winners Rosa (witch hat chocolate cupcake delights) and Sheila (lemon tart). We enjoyed performances by Flamenco Del Mar and Students of Soul, screen printed Slowyuga swag with neighbor Avery, and ate a fabulous potluck lunch together.
